Dorchester-on-Thames, Oxfordshire

Welcome

Buena Vista bed & breakfast

Welcome to Buena Vista, friendly bed & breakfast accommodation in the picturesque village of Dorchester-on-Thames, a charming riverside, Oxfordshire village, midway between Oxford and Henley. Just 5 miles from Wallingford, 6 miles from Abingdon, and 10 miles from Henley, this beautiful, quiet village is steeped in history.

Close to an ironage hillfort, it was formerly a Celtic market centre and a Roman Town, but it was the advent of Christianity that truly put Dorchester-on-Thames on the map.

A magnificent 12th century Abbey holds many music events throughout the year. At weekends from Easter until the end of the Summer you can visit the tea-rooms who will serve you with home-made scones, cakes and jam.

The surrounding landscape promises a beautiful and seductive escape with much for the outdoor enthusiast. The nature reserve of the imposing Wittenham Clumps overlooks the village.

Owners Pauline & David designed the stunning house themselves, which was completed in 2004 to a very high specification. It is situated in a quiet lane offering beautiful views over the open countryside with lots of wildlife to watch, and only a few minutes walk from the centre of the village.

Dorchester-on-Thames is also famous for the filming of Midsomer Murders, Miss Marple and Poirot. So whether you come for a short stay or spend longer, Dorchester-on-Thames is truly a wondeful retreat.
